The Brot Orb is a Hardmode orb that is rarely dropped by Phantobrots. It summons a floating fractal creature known as an antibrot that uses several different attacks, performing each one in the list in order before repeating:

  • Charges: Performs eight dashes towards the targeted enemy, ramming through them to deal contact damage. This is its only attack that is not affected by how many minion slots the player has.
  • Homing Barrage: Fires bolts of pink energy from its sides as its segments pulsate, which slow to a stop before shooting towards the targeted enemy at high speed. The more minion slots the player has, the more rapidly the bolts are fired, resulting in higher damage overall.
  • Splitting Charges: Performs a series of four long-ranged charges towards the targeted enemy, turning invisible and summoning an energy clone of itself that flies out a random distance to the side before returning, increasing the attack's range and damage. Each extra minion slot the player has allows it to summon an additional clone.
  • Oscillating Gaze: Points toward the targeted enemy and emits an infinite-range, terrain-piercing ray of light from its frontal eye, rapidly hitting any enemies in its path as it oscillates in size over its duration. Additional minion slots increase the width of the light and the intensity of its oscillations.

Like all orbs, the channeled minion will only exist for as long as the Use / Attack key is held, disappearing immediately when it is released.

Its best modifier is Demonic. Damage is the only statistic worth improving, since speed only affects the initial summon rather than the channeled minion, added with the minion's inability to deal critical hits. Also, it cannot receive knockback affecting modifiers.

Trivia

  • While the orb itself, like the Phantobrot it drops from, is based on the Mandelbrot set fractal, the antibrot minion it summons is instead based on the inverse Mandelbrot set, which is the form the Mandelbrot set takes when projected on an inverted plane.
