Gemflies are a type of critter. They give off a small amount of colored light, and are craftable from fireflies and one of the seven types of gems. They are usable as high-quality bait, and when released in the caverns, will summon the Gigabat after a length of time dependent on both the quality and quantity of gemflies released.

Gemflies can also be found naturally by shaking gem trees; in this state they will not summon Gigabat, and must be caught and released again to do so. Gemflies that can summon Gigabat have a glimmering particle effect around them.
