The Esophageous Staff is a Hardmode summon weapon that drops from the Esophage. It summons a miniature Esophage with only one arm that floats behind the player, attempting to hover above enemies to hit them with its arm as it bounces. Attempting to summon additional minions instead gives the summoned Esophmini additional arms, allowing it to deal more damage; when it reaches two arms by taking up two minion slots, it will also begin to spit globs of ichor onto the foe it's floating over to briefly but constantly inflict Ichor. Like other minions, the summoned Esophmini is invincible and follows the player for an unlimited amount of time, unless the player dies, exits the world, summons a replacement minion, or cancels the buff.

Its best modifier is Mythical unlike most summons. Ruthless raises the damage by the same amount due to rounding.
