The Celestial Storm is a Hardmode, post-Lunatic Cultist atlatl crafted using Vortex Fragments. When swung, it launches a portal resembling the ones created by the Lunar Portal Staff, which will gravitate towards the player and attempt to orbit around them for a short time before disappearing. They will fire darts towards the cursor at regular intervals, able to launch up to three per portal before disappearing; despite this, each portal only costs one dart to launch, effectively tripling your ammo's effectiveness. While the portals themselves can pass through tiles, their fired darts behave as normal, thus reducing the weapon's damage output when used next to a flat surface as the darts will collide with the terrain immediately after being fired.

Its best modifier is Legendary or Unreal. The main difference is that legendary increases the size of the atlatl, which has a linear effect on the projectile velocity, while unreal increases the velocity itself. Despite a slight difference between size and velocity, both modifiers should retain a similarly effective DPS.

Trivia

• Its tooltip references the famous quote "My god, it's full of stars" from the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey.
• It is one of four weapons added by the Polarities Mod crafted using Lunar Fragments, alongside the Nemesis, Nebula Ray, and Stardust Tower Orb. Of these, only the Nebula Ray does not correspond to a Polarities-exclusive weapon subclass, as magic weapons do not generally have subtypes in a way that affects gameplay, but it was added to complete the "set" of one new lunar weapon for each class.
