The Caustic Slug is a Hardmode atlatl rarely dropped by Slimeys. It throws a cluster of three small slugs resembling miniature Slimeys instead of darts that fly through the air towards the cursor, pausing and spinning in midair for a short time once reaching it, then slamming down to the ground and disappearing on impact with terrain while passing through enemies. They will deal rapid hits while spinning in place, allowing them to be used as an area control weapon more effectively than other atlatls, and briefly inflict Corroding.

Its best modifier is Legendary or Unreal. The main difference is that legendary increases the size of the atlatl, which has a linear effect on the projectile velocity, while unreal increases the velocity itself. Despite a slight difference between size and velocity, both modifiers should retain a similarly effective DPS.
