The Candy Cane Atlatl is a Hardmode atlatl that is dropped by Everscreams during the Frost Moon. While it ordinarily has a rather slow rate of fire, hitting enemies will briefly boost its swing speed but decrease accuracy; both of these values will revert by one increment after about half a second, requiring constant damage to sustain. The maximum attainable swing speed is as low as 8, equal to the Jungle's Rage, but this is difficult to sustain due to the extreme accuracy decay making hitting enemies beyond point-blank range very difficult.

Its best modifier is Legendary or Unreal. The main difference is that legendary increases the size of the atlatl, which has a linear effect on the projectile velocity, while unreal increases the velocity itself. Modifiers cannot affect the weapon's speed, since it is hard-coded from increasing by landing hits, also affecting the velocity depending on its current speed. Nonetheless, both modifiers should retain a similarly effective DPS.
