The Handheld Cone Shell is a Hardmode melee weapon obtained by using a Bug Net to catch a weakened Cone Shell (below 50% health). It functions like a flail mechanically, shooting out a projectile with a maximum range of five blocks that deals next to no damage but inflicts 20 seconds of Cone Venom, dealing rapid damage and applying a Confusion-like reversal effect. However, it has no effect on any enemies immune to Acid Venom, and does not reverse enemies immune to Confusion, limiting its utility.

Its best modifier is Zealous, although critical hits do little to overall performance since the majority of the damage comes from the inflicted debuff. Also, speed modifiers don't have an impact. Because only one projectile can be out at a time, the fire rate is based on how long the fired projectile lasts, similar to the Harpoon.
