The Volcanic Plume is a craftable Hardmode boomerang. A convective upgrade of the Flamarang, it quickly flies to the cursor's position and releases an explosion of fireballs upon reaching it or hitting anything in the way before bouncing back. The fireballs are spread out at random angles and inflict On Fire! to anything they hit, disappearing on impact.

Its best modifier is Godly or Demonic. Both increase the average damage output equally.
