Brine Flies are a Pre-Hardmode enemy found in Salt Caves. They spawn and travel in swarms of numerous individual entities that are larger in Expert Mode, dealing no damage on hit but having a chance to briefly inflict Confused. While easily killable individually, they will swarm around the player and block hits from non-piercing weapons aimed at other enemies, and the confusion effect can make them more susceptible to receiving Dessicating from its other sources in the Salt Caves.

• Due to its swarm behavior, it requires 500 kills to acquire a banner instead of the usual 50.
