The Ball Lightning is a Hardmode magic weapon crafted from materials dropped by The Polarities. It creates a controllable orb of electricity that follows the cursor similar to the Magic Missile and Flamelash, constantly releasing weakly homing lightning bolt projectiles in random directions. When the button is released or the orb impacts an enemy or tile, it explodes, releasing about eight bolts simultaneously, once again at random angles. Because of the lightning's homing abilities, shooting orbs and letting them detonate immediately does more damage overall than controlling the lightning for long periods of time; however, it also consumes significantly more mana.

Its best modifier is Mythical.
