The Lightning Core is a craftable Hardmode accessory. A post-Polarities upgrade of the Stormcore, it functions in mostly the same way, gradually summoning cloudfish minions from the sky to fill the player's available minion slots, but the summoned stormfish are darker in color similar to the Storm Cloudfish itself and take up a quarter of a minion slot each, meaning only four can be summoned per minion slot. Additionally, these lightningfish can be summoned while underground, but cannot travel through blocks so they may spawn inside terrain and get stuck.

When in range of an enemy, the lightningfish will gain an electrical wave effect as they charge down their target, ramming through them constantly for 19 base damage per hit. They will also occasionally teleport directly on top of their target, being able to pass through blocks to do so. If they get too far away from the player, they will teleport to them like other minions instead of despawning like the Stormcore's cloudfish.
