The Mecha Mayhem armor is a flawless Hardmode armor set that consists of the Laser Lens, Arm-Ageddon, and Earthshaker, each piece dropping from one of the mechanical bosses when defeated without taking any damage from them. Each piece has a unique effect that triggers when Use / Attack is pressed while equipped, regardless of if the player is holding a weapon (or any other usable item) or not:

  • The Laser Lens, dropped by The Twins, shoots an instant laser beam towards the cursor with a very long range that pierces through enemies and stops on impact with tiles. The beam will linger for a moment after being fired, hitting anything it touches in this time as it follows the player's position, and another cannot be fired until it has disappeared.
  • The Arm-Ageddon, dropped by Skeletron Prime, creates a short-ranged slash effect similar to that of the Arkhalis that is angled towards the cursor, rapidly hitting any enemies in its path. Despite the alternating appearances of its graphics between horizontal and vertical slashes, it always has the same hitbox size.
  • The Earthshaker, dropped by The Destroyer, summons a miniature Probe that follows the cursor and attempts to orbit in a loose circle around it, firing lasers towards it for a few seconds before disappearing. The probe itself can pass through tiles freely, but the lasers it fires cannot. There is no hard limit to how many can be summoned at once, limited by their creation speed and duration.

The damage inflicted by these attacks is classless, and can be increased by universal damage boosts (such as that of the Avenger Emblem) but is unaffected by any class-specific bonuses. When all three pieces are equipped at once, the player gains access to a 'mecha mayhem' state activated by pressing Open / Activate that significantly boosts the firing speed of all three attacks and causes the Arm-Ageddon's slashes to become a circular whirl attack that hits in all directions at once. This state lasts for four seconds and has a two-second cooldown before it can be used again (indicated by a ring of red particles around the player and an energy sound effect playing), but the cooldown will not tick down if they are holding any damage-dealing weapon.
