The Adaptive Genes are a Hardmode accessory dropped by the Esophage's Treasure Bag in Expert Mode. When equipped, it causes the player's damage and critical strike chance to increase the higher their health is, and at the same time boosts movement speed and life regeneration the lower their health is. These effects are gradual instead of activating at any one threshold, slowly coming into effect as their health changes.
