Instabilities are a type of critter found in the Space layer. They simply float in place, emitting cosmetic sparks and occasionally teleporting short distances in a random direction and distance. When caught with a Bug Net, the resulting item instead serves as the Rift Denizen's summoning item; using it has the player release it as it floats into the background, transforming into the portal that the Rift Denizen emerges from. If used while another Rift Denizen has already been summoned, nothing will happen. it is a non-consumable summon item.
it is one of few creatures that can be detected by the lifeform analyzer and its upgrades.
