Using The Captain's Cannon one enemies

The Captain's Cannon is a special hardmode gun purchased from the Pirate for 60 once a single mechanical boss has been defeated. When first firing it fires bullets at a slow rate with high spread, but it gradually speed up over a period of 6 seconds until it reaches maximum speed. If the player stops firing the gun for any reason they will have to wait for it to reach max speed all over again.

It additionally can fire a cannonball by right clicking while the gun is firing, this deals 4 times the damage of the bullets, and can be fired once every second and has some spread to it. In order to fire cannonballs the player must have cannonballs in their inventory, and one is consumed for each cannonball that is fired.

Notes

  • At max fire speed it fires a bullet every 6 frames.
  • Any speed modifiers only affect the initial bullet fire rate, meaning it will either take less or more time to reach max speed.
  • The cannon fire rate is affected by speed modifiers, and is always 3 times the initial usetime of the weapon
  • The cannon balls fired are the same as those fired from the placeable cannon, but are ranged and have local immunity frames.
  • When a cannonball is ready to be fired, a reload sound effect plays, unless the player is holding right click in which case the cannon will immediately fire.

Trivia

  • The weapon has the exact same sprite as the cannon wielded by the pirate npc.
  • The tooltip flavor text is reference to the Lazytown song "You are a pirate".
