The Virulent Scythe is a Hardmode, post-Plantera boomerang that emits a trail of Virulent Clouds, inflicting the Pathogen debuff for 8 seconds. It pierces infinitely and bounces off blocks, returning to the player after it reaches its maximum range. The Virulent Scythe is always found in the Dungeon's Contagion Chest, which can only be unlocked with a Contagion Key after Plantera has been defeated.

Its best modifier is Perfect.

Notes

• The Virulent Scythe can be thrown indefinitely as it does not have a limit on the amount of active projectiles, however there will typically not be more than 3 active at once as they return quickly.
