The power of a supernova rumbles within its thick shell. An anomaly in the starite life cycle, it seeks out sources of energy to grow ever stronger, using its orbiting orbs as both offense and defense.

BestiaryBestiary (Omega Starite)

Omega Starite is a Pre-Hardmode boss intended to be fought at the same time as the Wall of Flesh, however due to its difficulty and power of drops, it is recommended to save it for Early Hardmode, before Queen Slime. It takes 20%/36% reduced damage from Fallen Stars, Star Cannon, Super Star Shooter, Star Cloak/Star Veil/Bee Cloak/Mana Cloak Stars, Starfury, Star Wrath, and Holy Arrow Stars.

While it is alive, the exclusive music Astral Asterism will play.

Spawning

Before beating the boss for the first time, the only way to summon it is by interacting with the Ultimate Sword at the "Source" of the Glimmer event.

After defeating the boss, you gain access to the Supernova Fruit, which can be used to manually summon it at night.

Behavior

When awoken, Omega Starite will quickly fall from the sky, after reaching the Y level of the spawn location, it will either begin the Assault or Orbital attack sequence.

  • Assault- Omega Starite begins to chase the player, slightly guessing player movement. After being dodged 5 times (indicated by a swoosh sound effect), it will transition to the Orbital attack. When below 75% life, each dodge will spawn 5 stars in a star shape around Omega Starite.
  • Orbital- Omega Starite slows down, and its orbs will fire outwards and being rotating extremely quickly. When below 75% life, the outer ring will start firing projectiles extremely quickly, meaning you must either run away or stay within the outer ring.

After Omega Starite reaches 50% life, a few attacks get changed or added.

  • Ultimate Ray Orbital- Replaces the original Orbital attack, the inner rings will not rotate, instead charging an "Ultimate Ray" which will be spun around Omega Starite twice before the attack ends. While ending, the outer rings will still fire projectiles, making the end sequence extremely hard.
  • Star Bullets- Occasionally used instead of the Assault attack, Omega Starite will fly around the player instead of dashing into them, and fire 2 rounds of 5 lingering stars in a star shape which home for longer than usual.

Secret world seed changes

For the Worthy

  • Omega Starite gains a 3rd Ring.
  • Omega Starite becomes extremely small, so even though it has a 3rd Ring, it is about the same size as normal.
  • Takes 68% reduced damage from the Star projectiles listed at the top of the page.
  • Has increased falling speed during its intro attack.
  • Will always fire stars during the Assault attack, and they will be in groups of 10 instead of 5.
  • All rings will fire projectiles during the Orbital attack, instead of just the outer ring.
  • The Ultimate Ray will be 25% larger, and 2 are spawned instead of 1.
  • The Star Bullets attack will fire in 3 rounds of 10 instead of 2 rounds of 5.

Aftermath

Once Omega Starite has been defeated, the following will occur:

  • If the Glimmer event is active at the time, it will be ended early.
  • The Physicist will be able to sell the Supernova Fruit, and will be allowed to move into town if you have not beaten Ultra Starite already.
  • Glimmers will become x4 less common.
  • Moonflower herbs will begin growing on Meteorite.

(The following effects were originally exclusive to Hardmode, however defeating Omega Starite will trigger them as well)

Trivia

  • While alive, Fallen Stars will stop falling from the sky nearby the boss.
  • During April Fools, Omega Starite will be named "Omega Starite, Living Galaxy the Omega Being", and its music will be replaced with the vanilla track, Windy Day.
