One of many strange ocean crossbreeds, this colossal crustacean is half crab and half clam. It lurks deep within the Crevice, producing strange pearls that enthrall lesser crabs to do its bidding.

Crabson is a Pre-Hardmode boss intended to be fought at around the same time as the Eye of Cthulhu.

While it is alive, the vanilla music Boss3 will play.

Spawning

The boss can be summoned manually with a Hypnotic Pearl, found growing on the walls of the Crab Crevice.

Behavior

When awoken, Crabson will come up from below the ground, surrounding you with both of its claws, instantly starting the Claw Shots attack. After completing this intro attack, it will begin to alternate between the following set of attacks.

• Claw Shots- Crabson surrounds a player with both of his claws, and they fire pearls towards them. During this attack, the claws do not have a damage hitbox.
• Ground Bubbles- Crabson digs into the ground, gaining heavily increased defense, while also usually becoming hard to hit. During this attack, bubbles will spawn around the player, with a telegraph showing the direction they will aim towards before firing. During this attack, the claws do not have a damage hitbox.
• Claw Stomp- Crabson will place his claws above the player, they will gain an aura effect showing their line of impact. After a second, they will slam onto the ground. During the slam, the claws gain a damage hitbox, however when they are just hovering above the player, they will not have a damage hitbox.

After Crabson reaches 25%/50% life, a couple attacks become more difficult.

• Claw Shots- When the pearls explode, they will fire 4/8 shard projectiles which travel in a straight line.
• Ground Bubbles- Bubbles fire rate gets increased dramatically, forcing you to move much more.

For the Worthy

• Crabson's AI runs twice, effectively giving it double the movement and attack speed.
• Crabson's claws are double the size, making the slam attack much harder.

Aftermath

Once Crabson has been defeated for the first time, the following will occur:

• The Exporter will spawn from one of the claws, and will be allowed to move into town.
• Snobsters will spawn 5 times more commonly.
• Moray herbs will begin growing in the Crab Crevice.

Trivia

• Crabson is most likely immune to Lovestruck due to an un-ported weapon called Aphrodite, which inflicted a special Lovestruck debuff.
• According to old answers regarding what Crabson really is, it's supposedly a crossbreed of the Giant Clam and Crabulon boss from the Calamity Mod.
• Crabson supposedly tastes like a Cheeto, this is further implied from the un-ported Cheese Puff food which used to drop from Crab Crevice enemies.
