"A chaotic rift has formed in the sky!"
The Fractal Dimension is a unique subworld added by the Polarities Mod. When the Rift Denizen is defeated for the first time, a rift made of Fractal Matter will form in the sky at about the same level as the lowest Floating Islands and generally close to the center of the map, containing a Fractal Altar that, when right-clicked, will teleport the player to the Fractal Dimension. Featuring chaotic and irregular terrain, it is incredibly difficult to traverse without wings, and constantly inflicts the Fractalizing debuff with increasingly debilitating effects the longer the player lingers in exchange for being able to acquire more powerful loot. To leave the Fractal Dimension, either craft and use another Fractal Altar, use a Magic Mirror or any of its variant/derivative items (except the Twisted Mirror), or press the "Return" button in the pause menu that replaces "Save & Exit".
A prominent feature of the underground in the dimension are large circular caves with platforms and a vein of Selfsimilar Ore in the center; attempting to mine it with anything except a Selfsimilar Pickaxe will summon the Selfsimilar Sentinel. The veins will regenerate every time the player leaves the dimension or uses a Twisted Mirror or Twisted Recall Potion, allowing the boss to be fought infinitely.
While in the dimension, its exclusive music Fractal Palace will play; if the Polarities Mod Music sidemod is not enabled, the vanilla track Underworld will play instead.

The Fractal Dimension also has three sub-biomes, the Fractal Wastes, Fractal Ocean, and Dendritic Skies; this article's table refers to the main "Fractal Surface" biome. Aside from enemies and their associated drops, all content listed here is also available in the sub-biomes, and the tables in their articles are to be treated as additions to this main table.
