The Gambler is a new class added in the Orchid Mod. The Gambler class' weapons, armor, and accessories attack by drawing cards and randomly getting them redrawn. The class inflicts gambling damage.
The class is developed within the bounds of a vanilla pre-hardmode Terraria playthrough, with content available throughout pre-hardmode. This includes 2 armor sets, 5 accessories, 2 buffs, and 26 items.
Mechanics
Gambling Damage
The Gambler's weapons hit with a specific damage type called Gambling damage. Accessories and armor can be used to augment gambling damage output, and generic 'damage' buffs still increase the Gambler's damage.
Drawing Cards
The Gambler draws Playing Cards to attack. By "using" a card it is added to the player's deck, where it has a chance to be drawn. After drawing each card, the player is given a set time to use it. The player can immediately draw a new card by redrawing when available. The timer is drastically shorter when the player is handed the Lesser Healing Playing Card. To remove cards from their deck, one can interact with the Croupier.
Redraws
Redraws are a mechanic which after 60 seconds of time, the player will gain 1 redraw and by right-clicking, the player can change to the next card in the player's deck. By default, the player doesn't have any redraws, but the set amount of redraws can be increased by armor sets, such as the Outlaw armor.
Chips
Attacking enemies with Playing Cards has a chance to add Chips onto the player's Gambler UI. These chips can be used for other Gambler weapons, like Chips or Dice. The player can only stack up to 5 chips at a time, and this number can be raised with armor pieces or sets (e.g. Outlaw Hat granting +3 max chips when equipped), or accessory modifiers such as Crooked (+1 max chips) and Loaded (+2 max chips).
Card Sets
Certain playing cards are part of a Set; cards within each Set benefit from certain equipment such as the Lucky Sprout. A Playing Card may be in more than one set at once; for example, Blue King is a member of both the Slime and Boss card sets.
