The Pulsar being used on Target Dummies. Note how the charged orb creates a stronger implosion.

The Pulsar is a Hardmode collector that can be purchased from the Pro Bear at any time. Unlike most collectors, it is used like a staff rather than a broadsword.

When used, it fires a Dark Energy Orb that travels slowly, and implodes upon impact with terrain or enemy.

Its best modifier is Connoisseur's.

Notes

  • After 1 second of travel time, Dark Energy Orbs will become charged and begin homing in on the nearest target.
  • Charged Dark Energy Orbs produce charged Dark Energy Vortexes that cover a larger area, last longer and deal more damage & collect more pollen.

History

  • 1.0:
    • Decreased sell price from 10 to 480
    • Decreased damage from 57 to 37
    • Dark Energy Orbs now gain increased damage and pollen collection when charged
    • Decreased Dark Energy Vortex damage from 34 to 18
    • Modified how Dark Energy Vortexes pull in enemies so that it is less forceful
      • Previously, it didn't consider the target's current velocity, meaning enemies with high but not full knockback resistance would unintentionally still get as stuck in it as enemies with no resistance - now they can escape if their knockback resistance is high enough
  • 0.5.1: Dark Energy Implosion projectiles now emit a lower-pitched sound when charged
  • 0.5: Introduced
