Coughwood is The Contagion replacement for normal wood. Its properties are generally the same as that of normal wood, but it has the characteristic green tint of the Contagion. It is obtained by cutting down trees within the Contagion.
Coughwood, along with Ebonwood and Shadewood, is the second best Pre-Hardmode wood for tools, weapons, and armor, only beaten by Ash Wood.
Trees that have grown in The Contagion will give Coughwood instead of normal wood. Palm trees that have grown on Snotsand will give this wood instead of Palm Wood, as there is no Contagion variant of Palm Wood.
Coughwood cannot spread the Contagion.
Coughwood (other than texture) is exactly the same as Ebonwood and Shadewood.
