Sulphur is a pre-Hardmode crafting material which generates in piles in the underground and cavern layers upon defeating Skeletron, alongside the message "The underground smells like rotten eggs...". Sulphur can be placed as a decorative block, visually resembling a placed ore.

Sulphur is used at the Catalyzer to craft alternate versions of certain materials. It can be upgraded into Sulphur Crystals in hardmode.

Trivia

• Unlike most other items in the game, Sulphur, Sulphur Crystal, and the Sulphur Butterfly use the British English spelling of the word "Sulfur".
• Brimstone, an archaic term for Sulphur, also exists as a tile in the mod. Brimstone Blocks do not share any of the functional uses of Sulphur, and exist solely as a decorative tile.
