Template:Orchid Mod/1.4 only The Guardian is a new class added in the Orchid Mod. The Guardian class' weapons generate two separate resources, which are then used to block enemies and inflict opposing damage onto them.

As a proof-of-concept class, the Guardian is only briefly developed for a vanilla Terraria playthrough, with content available until the Eye of Cthulhu.

Mechanics

Opposing Damage

The Guardian's weapons hit with a specific damage type called opposing damage. Accessories and armor can be used to augment opposing damage output, and generic 'damage' buffs still increase the Guardian's damage.

Block

Blocks are one of the two primary resources the Guardian class is centered around. Indicated as shield icons below the player while holding a Guardian weapon, they are consumed by pavises in order to physically block and push enemies, as well as destroy hostile projectiles.

Blocks naturally generates over time, but can be instantly granted with properly-timed warhammer strikes. The player can have up to 3 Blocks at a time.

Slam

Slams are one of the two primary resources the Guardian class is centered around. Indicated as sword icons below the player while holding a Guardian weapon, they are consumed by pavises to slam the shield forwards to deal damage, as well as by runes to form lingering projectiles around the player.

Up to 1 Slam can be generated while the player is out of combat, but Slams are typically instantly granted whenever the player successfully blocks an enemy with a pavise. The player can have up to 3 Slams at a time.
