Doomsayer is a post-Moon Lord boss that can be fought in the Doom biome. It is currently the final boss in the mod.

The Doomsayer has the Organic, Doom, and Boss tags, and is immune to the following debuffs: ConfusedConfused, SlowSlow, ChilledChilled, FrozenFrozen, and Charred Mod/Impending DoomImpending Doom.

Summoning

Doomsayer can be summoned by using 10 Charred Mod/Doom ChunkDoom Chunks at a Charred Mod/Doom HeartDoom Heart.

Behavior

Takes a few seconds to spawn in, with the arena barriers slowly rotating outwards. The fight starts as soon as the Doomsayer is fully visible.

The following attacks happen in a set pattern:

Phase 1

  • Ray Attack: Shoots a ray every few seconds 5 times. These rays will follow the player's movement, eventually stopping and shrinking, before growing back to a larger size and slowly rotating around in the direction they stopped moving in. The rays will only deal damage while slowly rotating.
  • Orb Attack: Shoots an orb every few seconds 3 times. These orbs launch themselves towards the player's position, and grows in size upon reaching it. The orbs burst into 6 Doom Shards upon growing the fourth time.
  • Dash Attack: Quickly dashes towards the player 4 times. The last dash is an extra fast dash.

The attack order is: Ray -> Orb -> Dash

After hitting 40% health, the Doomsayer enters a last stand. During the last stand, the player gets inflicted with Charred Mod/Doomsayer WrathDoomsayer Wrath, stopping any positive life regeneration besides dropped hearts and healing potions. For the first few seconds of the last stand, 6 rings of 6 Doom Blasts are shot from outside of the arena towards the center. Afterwards, all of the 36 stored Doom Blasts are shot back out towards the player. Once all of the Doom Blasts are shot, the player is given 5 seconds to regenerate as much life as they can.

In Expert Mode

  • Ray Attack: Shoots 8 rays total at a faster rate. Additionally, there's a shorter delay before the attack changes.
  • Orb Attack: Shoots 5 orbs total at a faster rate. Additionally, orbs move faster.
  • Dash Attack: Dashes 2 more times and the second-to-last dash is an extra fast dash. Additionally, all dashes are faster.
  • Last Stand: Triggers at 75% health, shoots 10 rings of 8 Doom Blasts at a faster rate, and shoots the 80 stored Doom Blasts at a faster rate.

In Master Mode or For The Worthy

  • Ray Attack: Rays rotate faster.
  • Orb Attack: Orbs grow an extra time.
  • Dash Attack: The last slow dash is replaced with an extra fast dash.
  • Last Stand: Doom Blasts are shot faster.

Phase 2

  • Ray Attack: Similar to phase 1, but each ray is paired with a reflected ray.
  • Eye Attack: The background will fade towards black, and the Doomsayer will loosely move towards the player. After a while, the background will start to glow red and the Doomsayer will slow down. When the Doomsayer is completely still, the player will take damage while they move, increasing up to 300 damage per second. This is repeated 3 times before the attack ends.
  • Dash Attack: The Doomsayer emits 6 Doom Shards at the end of each dash.
  • Star Attack: Grows a single star that rotates clockwise slowly. The Doomsayer emits several Doom Blasts that accelerate towards the edge of the arena, and causes the Doom Star to rotate faster for every batch spawned. 20 Doom Blasts total are spawned before the attack ends.
  • Orb Attack: Orbs grow in size once more, and the Doomsayer emits 3 Doom Shards at a faster rate than it emits Doom Orbs.

The attack order is: Ray -> Eye -> Dash -> Star -> Orb

In Expert Mode

  • Ray Attack: Same Expert change as phase 1.
  • Eye Attack: No Expert change.
  • Dash Attack: Doom Shard count increased to 9.
  • Star Attack: Doom Blast count increased to 12.
  • Orb Attack: Doom Shard count increased to 5 and Doom Shards are shot faster.

After hitting 30% health in Expert Mode, the Doomsayer enters a second last stand. Unlike the previous last stand, the attack starts with 10 pairs of rings of 6 Doom Blasts each. The first ring spawns from the outside and moves inwards, while the other ring spawns from the inside and moves outwards. Once the stored Doom Blasts start shooting towards the player, the rings that moved outwards start shooting back inwards and join the stored Doom Blasts.

In Master Mode or For The Worthy

  • Ray Attack: Same change as phase 1.
  • Eye Attack: Doomsayer is more accurate while moving.
  • Dash Attack: Doom Shard count increased to 8 / 12.
  • Star Attack: Doom Blasts are shot faster.
  • Orb Attack: Emits an extra Doom Shard.
  • Last Stand: Same change as phase 1.

Phase 3

  • Orb Attack: Orbs move faster and grow faster. Doomsayer now dashes slowly towards the player whenever it spawns a Doom Orb and emits 5 Doom Shards twice while dashing.
  • Eye Attack: Doomsayer now dashes towards the player twice before stopping.
  • Star Attack: The Doom Star moves slower and speeds up less per batch, but more batches are spawned and batches are spawned faster.

The attack order is: Orb -> Eye -> Star

In Master Mode or For The Worthy

  • Orb Attack: Same change as phase 2.
  • Eye Attack: Dashes an extra time.
  • Star Attack: Same change as phase 2.

Notes

  • Doomsayer will quickly move above the player after every attack.
  • Doomsayer has a limited arena size.
    • This arena size is reduced during the Ray attack, and reduced even further during the Star and Expert attacks.
  • The Last Stand attacks cause the Doomsayer to be immune to damage.
  • If the Boss Checklist Mod is installed, its unique despawn message will be "The Doomsday continues..."

Tips

  • Try to remain close to some form of ground, as the arena limitations in the fight will cause you to be thrown off, especially once you run out of flight time.
  • Use the Ray attack and the end of the Expert attacks to heal up, as the other attacks require you to move around far more.
  • Make use of the new buff tiles that the mod adds, as they can heal you up pretty quickly.
  • Use plenty of platform layers for dash and orb attacks.
