The Nova Slime is a Hardmode enemy and boss servant that spawns in the Astral Infection and is summoned by Astrageldon. They attack by jumping towards the player like any other slime, though with higher speed and height. After Astrageldon has been defeated, they will start naturally spawning in the surface Astral Infection.

Astrageldon summons Nova Slimes by repeatedly slamming on the ground, launching groups of them into the sky, which then create harmless laser telegraphs below them then slam downwards. If the player is killed by Astrageldon, the slimes will jump into the sky and despawn.

Notes

• Nova Slimes will not drop Astra Jelly while Astrageldon is alive.
• With the Calamity's Vanities mod enabled, Nova Slimes will spawn within the mod's artificial Astral Blight biome after Astrageldon has been defeated.

Trivia

• The Bestiary entry for Nova Slime: A small fragment of Astrageldon, split off from the main body. The Nova Slime itself holds an immense amount of energy, but lacks the mass to remain stable.
• The Nova Slime is the only normal enemy added by the Catalyst Mod that doesn't have a banner.
