Following her late father's footsteps, Nova became a noble knight. She wishes to rid the world of the Slayer Terrarian.

— Bestiary (Nova Stellar)

Nova Stellar is a Pre-Hardmode boss intended to be fought after Skeletron, however she is able to be summoned as early as after the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu. While she is active, the vanilla track Golem/Boss 4 will play.

Spawning

Nova Stellar is summoned using a Hardlight Crest on the Surface during the Day.

Behavior

Once summoned, Nova will say a quick line as the battle begins. Afterwards, she will randomly perform one of these attacks: Electric Dash, Hardlight Feather Barrage, or Lance Dash.

Attacks

• Electric Dash: Nova dashes towards the player, leaving behind an Electric Trail as she travels.
  • In phase 2, she will create 4 lightning bolts outward in an X pattern centered on her.
• Hardlight Feather Barrage: Nova summons 10 total Hardlight Feathers, one straight at the player, 4 in a + pattern inward centered on the player, one straight at the player again, and 4 in an X pattern inward centered on the player.
  • The patterns are telegraphed by electric dust particles at where the Hardlight Feathers will spawn.
  • In phase 2, she can be seen holding the Plume Codex.
  • 
• Lance Dash: Lines up horizontally with the player and dashes, trying to predict the player's movement.

The following attacks become available below 75% life:

• Storm Cloud: Nova summons a Storm Cloud which stays in place and fires 8 lightning bolts down in 5 waves. There is an electric barrier around the cloud which prevents the player from escaping.
  • Before lightning spawns, the location is lightly telegraphed by a line of electric dust.
  • In phase 2, she can be seen holding the Plume Codex.
  • 
• Sword Dance: Nova summons 7 Hardlight Blades which circle around the player for a time before closing in, repeats 3 times afterward.

When Nova reaches below 50% life, she will create 4 lightning bolts in an X pattern, outward and centered on herself, after which she will stay still for 2 seconds and her sprite wll change. During this she is invincible and afterward, the following attacks become available:

• Hardlight Bow. Nova uses the Down Bow to fire 3 Hardlight Feathers, 3 times consecutively.

• Hardlight Blade. Nova chases after the player while swinging the Hardlight Blade.

Aftermath

Once Nova is defeated, the following effects will occur:

• If the player that defeated her was in Slayer Mode, she will die and will be unable to be re-summoned.
  • Additionally, the Atherian will leave and not be present ever again.

Trivia

• While Nova is below 50% of her max life, she will emit electric dust particles.
  • Additionally while she is below 25% of her max life and the player is in Slayer Mode, she can be seen bleeding.
• The trophy dropped does not follow the traditional boss part on display design.
  • Instead, the trophy belonged to Nova herself, thus the different naming of the item.
• The attack Sword Dance is a reference, in name and behavior, to the Normal-type Pokemon move Swords Dance.
• The fact that Nova's name is very similar to The Stars Above's Stellar Nova is purely accidental and not on purpose.
