Thing (GaMeTerraria).png "dave time" Thing (GaMeTerraria).png

The D-Worms, called ????? in-game and WORM GIVEN DIVINE BLESSING BY THE INVERTEBRATE PATRON SAINT in Dave Mode, are a Hardmode, post-Lunatic Cultist boss. They are intended to be an alternative to fighting the Moon Lord, having nearly identical drops.

While the D-Worms are alive, no music will play.

Spawn

The D-Worms will replace the Moon Lord when trying to spawn him in Dave Mode. However, when the Thing is in the player's inventory, the Moon Lord will spawn as usual. When outside Dave Mode, the Thing can be used to spawn the D-Worms instead of the Moon Lord.

Behavior

Each D-Worm will move in circles, trying to stay above or below the player depending on their relative positions. They will also speed up the further they are from the player, and will both target a single player.

Each D-Worm consists of 3 cores. Only the cores of the D-Worms can be damaged, and all 6 cores need to be destroyed to defeat the boss. D-Worms do not die when all of its cores are destroyed, and will continue attacking.

Red projectiles can only damage the player if they are holding down the Use / Attack button. Likewise, blue projectiles only damage the player if the Use / Attack button is not being held down.

Attacks

A D-Worm will wait 2 seconds between each attack. When performing an attack, it will choose a random attack and a random core to attack from.

Line Shot

Telegraphed by a vertical shine, a core will shoot 7 evenly spacedLine Shot (GaMeTerraria)Line Shots three times in succession. They will be shot out facing the player, but will not home in.

Cross Shot

Telegraped by a cross-shaped shine, a core will shoot 5 Cross Shot (GaMeTerraria)Cross Shots in each diagonal direction. The Cross Shots will follow the core for 10 seconds before freezing in place, and despawn after 20 seconds.

This attack can only be performed if the last Cross Shot was performed 8 seconds ago.

Spiral Shot

A core will shoot 4 Spiral Shot (GaMeTerraria)Spiral Shots three times in succession. The Spiral Shots will slowly diverge from the core whilst rotating, and despawn after 20 seconds.

Notes

  • All projectiles will ignore 75% of the player's defense.

Trivia

  • The colored projectiles and their tangibility are a reference to Schism.
    • In turn, Schism's colored bullets were inspired by Ikaruga.
