The Nugget is a town pet. It arrives at dawn (4:30 AM) the day after the player uses the Nugget License, which is purchased from the Oracle for 110. The Nugget does not count towards the NPCs' "crowded" limit and hence will not affect NPC happiness, although it does count as a regular town NPC for the purpose of the Pylon network. There are six breeds of Nuggets, with one randomly being chosen when it arrives.

The only requirements for the Nugget to appear is the use of a Nugget License and the presence of a valid house. The Nugget's house can be changed, as with any other NPC, however the Nugget can share the same house as another NPC.

The Nugget can be talked to with the ⚷ Open / Activate button, like any other town NPC. It will offer a "Pet" option, which places the player directly in front of the Nugget when selected, and displays an animation of them petting the Nugget, an effect that is a purely visual. It only works if there are at least two flat tiles on the same level as the Nugget in front of it. Using any item, taking damage, or closing the dialogue window terminates the animation.

Like the Angler and the Princess, the status message displayed when the Nugget is killed is "<name of Nugget> has left!". It will respawn within the next days, and may respawn as a different breed.

Trivia

• Each Nuggets appearance is based on various draconic beings within the Calamity Mod:
  • The Nugget Nugget is based on an older version of the Yharon's Kindle Staff's summon, and by proxy, the McNuggets pet that references this old sprite.
  • The Folly Nugget is based on The Dragonfolly boss and it's servants.
  • The Draconid Nugget is based on the previously mentioned Yharon's Kindle Staff's current sprite for its minion.
  • The Shadow Nugget is based on the Gaze of Crysthamyr's Shadow Dragon mount.
  • The God Nugget is based on a piece of concept art for the now scrapped Future Boss; Dragon God, Yharon by Inanis
  • The Mammoth Nugget is based on a scrapped Xeroc tiered boss that went by the code name of the Mega Mammoth Dragon.
• Despite how many references there are to it in the mod, there is no Bumblebirb nugget.
