The Lightning Rod is a hardmode summon weapon. It summons two lightning bug minions that follow the player and attack enemies by dashing into them. The lightning bugs will light up when they are close to enemies and will occasionally flicker otherwise.
The Lightning Rod is a direct upgrade to the Firefly Staff. Its lightning bugs are much faster than their firefly counterparts.
Its best modifier is Ruthless. The Mythical modifier provides the widest array of stats bonuses, but these primarily affect the initial summon rather than the resulting minion. Additionally, minions cannot deal critical hits. The only significant advantage a Mythical Lightning Rod has over a Ruthless one is knockback.
