Phazon is a Hardmode ore generated after defeating Plantera. It's only purpose is to make Phazon Bars. When placed, Phazon emits a cyan light.

It inflicts the Phazon! debuff if the player comes into contact with the block. It can be prevented by wearing a Power Suit with the Phazon Suit or Nebula Augment addon.

It can only be mined with a Nova Laser Drill.

Generation

A Phazon meteor, or Leviathan, in the Purity

A meteor called a Leviathan will generate after Plantera is first defeated. This will be accompanied by the status message: "A Leviathan has landed!" The meteor consists of a large amount of blue Phazon and a small amount of red Phazon Core at its center. Upon breaking the core, Phazon veins will generate throughout the world in the Underground and Cavern layers.

Leviathan Bug

There is a small chance that after defeating Plantera that the Leviathan does not generate. In this case, the Chozo Ghost will sell Phazon Core which upon being mined will generate Phazon in the world as if the player had mined the core from the Leviathan proper.
