Contender is a Hardmode, post-Plantera Handgun. Contender is crafted by using Iron/Lead Bars, Souls of Night, 60 or 80 Ebonwood depending on the type of metal bar used, 7 Ectoplasm, a Legendary Class Core, and a Temperate Culture.

It fires unique Spiritron Bullets which overwrite normal bullets. They have a shorter range than most bullets but excel at damaging enemies that use magic or such to attack. When they are close to expiring, the bullets gain a 30% damage boost. The anti-"mage" damage boost works on enemies like Tim, Dark Casters, and the Lunatic Cultist.

Its best modifier is Unreal.

Trivia

  • Contender sports the highest damage (95) out of any handgun in Kryuger Collision. This is slightly mitigated by its lack of autofire and rather slow use time compared to other options.
  • The weapon in general serves as a massive reference to Kiritsugu Emiya, main anti-hero/anti-villain protagonist of Fate/Zero, part of the veritable Fate franchise of Japanese works by visual novel company Type-Moon. His main weapon of choice is the Contender handgun itself, modified to fire unique bullets that excel at killing mages, which is represented as a 30% damage boost to similar targets the gun's bullets hit. His other firearms, M950A and WA2000 are available in the mod as well. (AUG is currently not implemented into the game.)
    • The tooltip "If it will save the world, I'll gladly do it" is referencing a quote straight from Kiritsugu himself.
    • The weapon's critical chance and knockback is 7% and 7 (strong knockback) respectively. 7 is the traditional number of servants in a Holy Grail War, a centerpiece concept of the Fate franchsie.
