The Dissonance is a Hardmode bow. Arrows fired from this bow leave a trail of strings, along which musical notes appear. These notes are initially stationary, but quickly begin accelerating into the approximate direction of the arrow that spawned them. This effect does not replace the fired arrow's inherent effects (e.g. the bouncing of Chlorophyte arrows), but is in addition to them.
