This is a Guide page.
This is a Guide page.
This means the page will walk you through a specific task, strategy, or enemy/boss fight.

This is an introductory guide on how to play with the Hive Class, which is the class that all of this mod's content is centered around. This guide is NOT intended to provide specifics such as equipment recommendations, rather to help explain what the class itself does, and how to use it.

NOTE: I'll try to add appropriate images at some point

Getting Started

  • When you first start a new world with a new character, you might notice that you won't have any new equipment from this mod.
  • To begin your journey down the path of the Hive Class, you must have enough housing for the Noob Bear to arrive.
  • Once he does, interact with him to obtain your starter equipment, consisting of a Hive Slot and Basic Egg.
  • Place the Hive Slot somewhere nice and right click on it with the Basic Egg to hatch your first bee!
  • Noob Bear also has a shop which sells equipment for the class, which he will keep expanding with progression until the world enters Hardmode.
  • The first pieces of equipment, the Scooper & Pouch are purchased for 50 each.

Bees

  • Once you have placed down your Hive Slot and hatched your first bee, you can right click on the Hive Slot to summon or dismiss said bee.
  • The bee will start off not moving. Don't panic! Bees spawn with no energy, and must rest up so they are ready to work!
    • This is important to remember, as some may leave mid-combat to rest.
  • Bees will attack enemies, convert Pollen into Honey, and if applicable, spawn Ability Tokens to buff the player.
  • You can get bees to focus a specific target with the Set Bee Target keybind, or lightly influence what they prioritise by hitting an enemy with a Collector.

Pollen & Honey

  • You might notice when looking at Noob Bear's shop that most of the items cost Honey.
  • This is a special currency used for purchasing Hive items, and can be obtained through various means:
  • The latter method is the primary, and can be done once you obtain your first Bag, the Pouch.
  • Once you have the Pouch equipped, you'll notice a bar just to the right of the inventory. This bar indicates how much Pollen you currently have stored, as well as counting how much Honey you have stored between your inventory, piggy bank, safe, etc.
  • At this stage, if you have the Scooper, you can hit enemies with it to collect Pollen. If not, don't worry! Bees themselves can collect Pollen when hitting enemies as well.
  • When you have some Pollen stored, head over to any active Hive Slots and your bee will start converting it into Honey!

That's all for now, good luck with your beekeeping!
