Tree Toad is a boss summoned using an Awful Garbage Mod/Insect on a StickInsect on a Stick, which can be found in surface chests or crafted. It is one of the first bosses to be fought in the mod.


Phase 1

Upon spawning, the following attack pattern will be used:

  • Jumps towards the player twice, firing 1 leaf / 3 leaves in quick succession towards the player at the highest point of the jump.
  • Jumps once, attempting to predict your position. Upon landing, Tree Toad will shoot orbs in 4 directions, their trajectories telegraphed by transparent orbs.
  • Performs the previous two attacks again.
  • Jumps towards the player twice, firing 1 leaf / 3 leaves in quick succession towards the player at the highest point of the jump.
  • Jumps towards one side of the player, firing 1 leaf / a spread of 5 leaves towards the player. Immediately jumps towards the other side of the player, leaving behind a trail of stationary leaves. Upon landing, the leaf trail falls towards the ground and Tree Toad will shoot orbs in 4 directions. Upon reaching the ground, the falling leaves will be redirected towards the player.
  • Rests for approximately 8 seconds. The attack pattern then repeats.


Phase 2

Tree Toad transitions at 60% health, or 1500/2500 / 1800/3000 / 2040/3400 health. Tree Toad jumps into the air, and afterward the following attack pattern will be used:

  • Tree Toad attempts to fall on top of the player. Upon hitting ground or platforms below the player, Tree Toad will fire orbs to the left and right. Tree Toad will also fire 8 gravity-affected leaves upwards.
  • Tree Toad immediately performs 5 predictive jumps, firing 1 leaf / 3 leaves in quick succession towards the player at the highest point of the jump and firing firing 1 leaf / a spread of 5 leaves towards the player upon reaching the ground each jump.
  • Tree Toad attempts to align itself diagonally above the player, before dashing towards the player. Tree Toad performs this attack 3 times.
  • Rests for approximately 8 seconds.
  • Tree Toad jumps into the air, attempting to fall on top of the player. Upon hitting ground or platforms below the player, Tree Toad will fire orbs to the left and right. Tree Toad will also fire 8 gravity-affected leaves upwards. Tree Toad performs this attack 5 times.
  • Tree Toad flies back up into the air, then dashes left and right above the player, releasing multiple walls of falling leaves.
  • Tree Toad circles the player, periodically firing 1 leaf / 3 leaves in quick succession towards the player.
  • Tree Toad attempts to align itself diagonally above the player, before dashing towards the player. Tree Toad performs this attack 3 times.
  • Rests for approximately 8 seconds.
  • Tree Toad jumps into the air, and the attack pattern repeats.


Notes

  • Tree Toad's fight is designed around the lack of mobility the player has upon starting the game; no mobility accessories are necessary to dodge all of the attacks.
  • While Tree Toad rests, it's defense reduces to 0, it takes 33% more damage, and deals no contact damage.
