The Turtle Aegis is a craftable Hardmode accessory. It grants the player 5 defense, immunity to knockback, 50 additional life and a gradual increase of damage reduction as the player's health decreases. It is a direct upgrade to the Shield of Life, granting additional damage reduction.

This damage reduction from this item is calculated after defense is applied and when above 25% maximum life:

Damage_taken = ( Raw_damage - (Defense * (.5 or .75 or 1 for normal/expert/master modes respectively)) ) * (1 - ((1 - (Current Life / Max Life)) / 3))

When at 25% of your maximum life or below, the damage reduction will cap at 25%.
