The Grand Antlion is a Pre-Hardmode boss fought after the Eater of Worlds/Brain of Cthulhu.

While The Grand Antlion is alive, the music Desert's Wrath by Bartuscus will play.

Spawn

The Grand Antlion spawns by using an Ancient Crown or by destroying a Strange Sandcastle in the desert during nighttime.

Behavior

The Grand Antlion primarily stays stationary during phase one for it to start chasing the player in phase 2.

Attacks

• Dig : The Grand Antlion will dig into the ground for it to then dig up right below the player and roar.
• Sand Shard Rain : When the Grand Antlion is above the ground it will shoot a bunch of sand shards upwards in a shotgun like pattern that fall down on the player.
• Sand Shard Shot : When nearing phase 2 or when nearing death the Grand Antlion will shoot a burst of sand shards before doing its sandball attack.
• Sandball Attack : After shooting a burst of sand shards the Grand Antlion will use its Dig attack to reset the AI pattern.

Upon reaching 50% health, the Grand Antlion will use its dig attack for it to come out taller and it will start chasing the player and gain 2 additional attacks. This goes on until the end of the fight.

• Sand Shard Rain 2 : The pattern of the projectiles become much more structured.
• Charge : The Grand Antlion will sometimes charge at the player with increased speed before digging back into the ground.
