Notes

  • Since the Shotgun uses local immunity frames, all pellets can hit and damage a single enemy simultaneously. This results in a total base damage of 60.
  • Since 10 pellets are shot from this weapon, the chances of a health kit spawning is increased.
  • The Shotgun consumes secondary ammo for the Soldier, Pyro, and Heavy and primary ammo for the Engineer.

Strategies

  • In order to deal consistent damage with the Shotgun, the Soldier, Pyro, Heavy, or Engineer must be near his target.
    • However, Soldier or Heavy should switch to his primary weapon for medium- to far-ranged combat, Pyro should always use their flamethrower, and Engineer should only use this weapon if he feels that his sentry gun isn't dealing enough damage.
  • The Shotgun is a great weapon to spawn in health kits with as it shoots 10 pellets at a time.
  • The Shotgun's single reload style can diminish damage output. Therefore, it's important for the Soldier, Pyro, Heavy, or Engineer to know when to reload.

Trivia

  • The Shotgun used to be four separate weapons, one for the Soldier, Pyro, Heavy, and Engineer respectively.
    • However, all of them were merged into one weapon.
  • The Shotgun has nearly identical statistics to the Scattergun.
    • The only difference is reload time.
