Pyro's Starter Primary
Extinguishing teammates restores 11% of max health
Alt-Fire: Release a blast of air that pushes enemies and projectiles and extinguish teammates that have debuffs.

The Flame Thrower is a primary weapon for the Pyro. It spews out a line of flames that deal a massive amount of damage over a small range. Additionally, enemies are set on fire, damaging them further. Furthermore, right-clicking creates a compression blast, which deflects enemy projectiles, pushes enemies back, and clear debuffs from other players and friendly NPCs, for a cost of 20 mana. Clearing debuffs restores 11% of the Pyro's maximum health. This weapon is a stock weapon and can be obtained immediately if the Pyro class is chosen.

Notes

  • The Flame Thrower uses global immunity frames, meaning that enemies cannot take damage for a few frames after getting hit.
  • Flames extinguishes themselves when in contact with water.

Strategies

  • The Flame Thrower and its variants are the best weapons for close-ranged combat.
    • If the Pyro's target is too far from the Flame Thrower's flames, the Pyro must switch to a far-ranged weapon, like the Flare Gun.
  • Airblasts can help Pyro avoid potential fatal damage as they can reflect projectiles and knockback enemies.
    • Additionally, extinguishing allies rewards the Pyro with some health restore.
  • The Flame Thrower works miraculously against bosses consisting of multiple segments or summoned minions.

Trivia

  • The Flame Thrower is one of the few weapons in the Team Fortress 2 mod that uses mana.
  • This weapon is one of the only weapons that has knockback in the Team Fortress 2 mod.
    • It does this through airblasts.
    • Unlike most Terraria weapons, it can knock back bosses.
