Ocean (Magnumiactus)

The Ocean is a Surface-level biome typically present at the left and right edges of the world. It consists of at least two major parts: a sandy plain littered with Palm Trees, Starfish, and Seashells, and a large body of water with Coral and treasure on the seabed. The body of water is usually fairly deep, though it tends not to extend into layers beneath the Surface unless a Florida-style ocean (marked by an inverted curve relative to normal generation) and/or ocean cave generates. Currently, Magnumiactus' changes to the Ocean are fairly small. Crabs can drop Hermitaur Shell, a material used for making crab-themed equipment. After beating the Eater of Worlds or Brain of Cthulhu, you can fish out Shell Shockers as an Uncommon drop.

Items related to Duke Fishron have been extended into a larger Aquarian equipment set, with Royal Fins serving as an important material for these new items. Some of these weapons can inflict Wet, a pre-existing status effect that now affects other debuffs like On Fire! (reducing its damage) and Electrified (doubling its damage per second).

Trivia

• Though the presence of Shell Shockers implies that a Lagiacrus (from the Monster Hunter series) could be encountered nearby, no such encounter exists at the moment.
  • Of note is that, within the Monster Hunter series, parts and materials from monsters have appeared without their respective monsters before; for example, the Monoblos and Gravios shells carried by Daimyo Hermitaurs and Shogun Ceanataurs respectively have made appearances without Monoblos or Gravios themselves appearing, and materials from monsters not present in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate can be obtained by trading in materials from present monsters at the Wyporium.
