The Maple Shield is a Hardmode accessory, available for purchase from the Curio Trader once any Tier 3 Boss has been defeated. It provides 2 defense and 5% melee critical strike chance. While it is equipped, double-tapping the down key while on solid ground causes the player to gain the Defensive Stance buff for a duration of 8 seconds. This buff reduces damage taken by 25%, but also halves the player's movement speed. Once the buff runs out, there is a 12 second cooldown before it can be applied again.
