The Deep Anchor is a Hardmode melee weapon and serves as the the powered-up version of the Cursed Anchor. Its main fire mode throws the anchor, then pulls it back to the player using the anchor chain once it reaches a certain distance, or upon hitting a tile. Unlike the base game's Anchor, hitting an enemy does not cause the anchor to retract.

The Deep Anchor's alternate fire also throws the anchor, but doesn't pull it back towards the player; instead, the player is pulled towards the anchor. While reeling in, the player cannot be hit. If used in quick succession, this alternate fire can be used up to three times before the cooldown is set. Each of these sequential attacks also deals 20% more damage, up to 60% extra damage on the third throw.

What differentiates the Deep Anchor from its weaker predecessor is not only a longer range and higher damage, but also the fact that it creates additional ghostly anchors with each usage. When using the main fire mode, one ghostly anchor is created together with the main anchor, but takes some time to accelerate to full speed. During an alternate fire usage, one ghostly anchor is created once the player has finished reeling to the target position; during the third sequential alternate fire usage, a spread of five ghostly anchors is created instead.

Regardless of the fire mode, enemies that are in contact with water take 20% extra damage.
