This ceremonial sword was used to burn marks into the skin of cult members,
which was a painful process.
The deep red mark shows true dedication to their god and must be done to fully join their cult,
anyone who refused was exiled as a heretic.
Outside of those ceremonies, this weapon was used by the cult leader for various dark rituals.

Rahlem's Flamescar is a caftable Hardmode sword, it is found inside a Sandstone Chest, only one can be found per world, and sword cannot be used before defeating the Wall of Flesh. It normally swings like any ordinary broadsword, however it can be used with right click to spend 20 life to awaken the blade temporarily. While awakened, the blade emits Spirit- and Seething Embers, Spirit Embers pierce infinitely while Seething Embers do more damage and inflict Blazing Suffering. Its best modifier is Legendary.

Tips

  • If one wished to search for this weapon, a Spelunker Potion is a valuable tool as it highlights chests.

Notes

  • Before entering Hardmode, the tooltip will contain "The weapon seems to be hiding its power from the unworthy. Defeating a flesh prison might prove your worth" underneath its normal tooltip to indicate when it will be usable.
