The Magic Cuffs are a pre-Hardmode accessory which increases maximum mana by 20 and restores mana when the wearer is damaged.

Mana restored is equal to the damage of the attack before factoring defense and damage reduction effects. Damage from drowning and debuffs does not trigger this effect, while damage from falling will. This effect does not stack with the mana restoration effect of the Celestial Cuffs.

Tips

• Due to its ability to turn damage taken into mana, the Magic Cuffs are a very valuable accessory when regularly using any kind of magic weapon.
• Self-inducing damage proves to be a reliable source of mana restoration. With a reasonable amount of defense, the damage taken can be reduced to a negligible amount, while the mana restored equals the base damage. Damage can be self-induced by, for example, traps (including Spikes and Wooden Spikes), explosives, or Exploding Bullets.
• In comparison to the Mana Flower, the Magic Cuffs may be preferred due to the Mana Sickness debuff which consuming Mana Potions causes.
• The Spectre armor set bonus pairs well with this, as using a magic weapon costs mana and restores health, and when the player takes damage the mana is restored, causing the process to repeat as long as the player is not taking too much damage and dealing magic damage.
• Crafting the Magic Cuffs requires a Band of Starpower. This content is transcluded from Band of Starpower § Crimson worlds.Getting a Band of Starpower takes special measures in Crimson worlds, since it is normally dropped from Corruption-exclusive Shadow Orbs.
  • On the  Desktop version,  Console version, and  Mobile version, the Band of Starpower can be crafted in the Graveyard, from a Panic Necklace and a Mana Crystal. It is also obtainable in Hardmode by fishing up Defiled Crates(Desktop, Console and Mobile versions) in an artificial Corruption biome, which can be made with Corrupt Seeds from the Dryad when in a Hardmode Graveyard.
  • On the Nintendo 3DS version, the Band of Starpower can be found in Living Wood Chests.
