Satchel Charge Detonator is a post Plantera unique tool that throws out Satchel Charges which stick to surfaces, only one can be thrown out at once. It can be purchased from Demolitionist for 30 after the Plantera has been defeated, while the Charges are purchased under the same condition for 50. Right clicking with the weapon detonates the placed satchel. Holding UP and right clicking will instead disarm the charge, dropping the charge as an item.
The charge destroys tiles in a large area, and damages both enemies and town npcs, along with the player if they are in the radius. Enemies will also be launched away from the center of the explosion.
Notes
- A red dust circle appears around the charge indicating the range that the explosion will destroy tiles.
- A placed Satchel will also continuous beep emitting an expanding red dust circle.
- When holding the tool, a red line is drawn between the player and the placed satchel.
- The line will turn green if UP is held, indicating that right clicking will instead disarm the satchel.
- The satchel cannot be detonated until at least 40 frames after being thrown.
- Since the Satchel deals 1000 damage, town npcs and most players will be instantly killed if caught in the charge.
- The damage cannot be increased by any means, as it is generic damage.
Trivia
- The weapon has no damage stat by itself, instead relying on the damage from the Satchel Charge (1000).
- It acts very similar to the Sticky Mine Detonator, although it is considered to be a tool rather than a weapon, unlike the mine launcher which deals ranged damage.
- The charge is a reference to the Satchel Charge from Deep Rock Galactic, and the fact it can damage town NPCs is a nod to how the charge is know to kill teammates.
- The ammo tooltip flavor text "Explosives Placed" also references one of the lines said when a charge is thrown out.
