"A heavily withered set of ancient armour that was once buried in the depths of the desert, possessed by an unknown entity. All those who try to slay it end up serving it for eternity. Legends say the remains of the former owner are still inside"

The Ancient Husk is a boss that is summoned using a Storm's Additions Mod/Cracked HornCracked Horn while in a desert. It drops a bunch of weapons that function similarly to some of the boss's attacks, as well a set of armor. Its expert accessory creaes an aura around the player' cursor that allows them to deal 15% extra damage to enemies within the aura.

Phase 1

When spawned the boss will float directly above above the player, before performing the following attack cycle:

  • It will sweep over the player while firing sand blasts in a small spread of 1/2/3 directly at the player.
  • It then positions itself to the left/right of the player depending on where its current position is relative to them, and will fire out an even spread of 3-4/4-5/5-6 Arid shards with a wide angle at the player.
  • It will then stay in place for a second and summon 2/3/4 Ancient Spirits and will become immune to damage but will also deal no contact damage. It will keep orbiting the player until all the Ancient Spirits are killed.
  • The attack pattern will then repeat.

Phase 2

A 50% life, the bosses mask will visually break off and it will let out a roar. The boss stops attacking and will float above the player before resuming its attacks, this time with higher speed and with new attacks.

  • It will perform the sand blast attack, but this time the sand blasts will explode after a short delay and are fired at a faster rate.
  • It will then perform the Arid Shard attack, the only difference being the faster fire rate.
  • It will stay in place for a second while charging up, and will then spew out sand flames while quickly charging towards the player, but has a low turning speed. The flames inflict the On Fire debuff for 5 seconds.
  • It then summons the Ancient Spirits as before, however this time while orbiting the player it will shoot out non-exploding sand blasts at the player.
  • Once the spirits are defeated the boss will float above the player, and will then summons groups of 2/3/4 falling sand from the sky at a fast rate around the player.
  • It will then repeat the attack pattern

Notes

  • Most of the bosses projectiles have a higher velocity on Expert, and even higher on Master.
  • The boss does not enrage or despawn if the player leaves the desert, it continues to behave as normal.
  • The boss does not deal contact damage while it is invulnerable during the minion attack.
  • If it kills all players it will slowly fly into the ground and despawn.
  • Boss 5 will play while the boss is alive.
  • Most of the bosses projectiles gain velocity if the player is far enough away from the boss.
  • In for the Worthy worlds the player will be inflicted with the Mighty Wind debuff while the boss is alive.

Trivia

  • The weapons and armor dropped from this boss used to be craftable until they were added as loot.
  • The boss visually resembles a giant set of Arid Armor that has been heavily withered and lost the limbs.
  • The second phase reveals there is a skull under the mask, and most likely an entire skeleton, minus the limbs inside the set as hinted by the bestiary.
