Daffodil is a Hardmode boss intended to be fought before Mechanical bosses.

While Daffodil is alive, her exclusive music To A Floral Demise will play.

Spawn

Daffodil can be found sleeping in her arena between Creepy Catacombs and Lower Catacombs. Throwing a Heavy Brick at her will awaken her. If Daffodil has been defeated before, there is a 5% chance that she will say "Nah..." upon awakening and go back to sleep. Otherwise, the fight will begin after a short intro cutscene.

Behavior

Daffodil is a stationary boss that is comprised of three parts: body, eye, and hands. Only the eye can receive damage, with other parts being invincible.

Daffodil will alternate between the following attacks:

  • Fires a barrage of Solar Lasers aimed directly at the player.
  • Raises her arms, firing Chlorophyll Flower (Spooky Mod).pngChlorophyll Flowers from them. The Flowers will fly outwards before changing their trajectory and going towards the player.
  • Launches 3 bursts of 3 to 5 bouncing Thorn Ball (Spooky Mod).pngThorn Balls that stop in place and sprout into 6 Thorn Spike (Spooky Mod).pngThorn Spikes after 3 seconds.
  • Summons numerous Large Fly (Spooky Mod).gifLarge Flies from the left and the right that move horizontally across the arena.
  • Drops non-damaging Seed (Spooky Mod).pngSeeds from above that stick to the ground and sprout into vertical Thorn Pillar (Spooky Mod).pngThorn Pillars after 1.5 seconds.
  • Charges up for 2.66 seconds before firing a sweeping Solar Deathbeam across the arena. The Deathbeam cannot pass through tiles and the safe spots in the arena will be marked by a Telegraph (3) (Spooky Mod).pngtelegraph.

Upon reaching 50% health, Daffodil will temporarily become immune and begin another cutscene. She will cover the floor and walls of the room in damaging Thorn Barrier (Spooky Mod).pngThorn Barriers, forcing the player to continue the fight on platforms present in the arena. She retains all of her previous attacks, with the exception of Solar Deathbeam, and gains 2 new attacks:

  • Raises her arms and then punches at the player with both of them.
  • Fires a spread of Solar Deathbeams aimed around the player's position. The Deathbeams can go through tiles and their locations are indicated via a Telegraph (2) (Spooky Mod).pngtelegraph.

  • Trivia

    • Daffodil's design and some of her attacks were inspired by Omega Flowey, a boss from the videogame Undertale.

    • 1.2.3:
      • Increased base damage from 45 / 90 / 135 to 50 / 100 / 150.
      • Increased defense from 20 to 25.
      • Fixed projectiles' damage scaling.
      • Fixed multiplayer health scaling.
    • 1.2:
      • Now drops 2nd Place Bloom Ribbon and Puff of Pollen.
      • Added a punch attack.
      • Improved both Solar Deathbeam attacks.
