Moon Shards are pre-Hardmode crafting materials found inside Locked Invidia Chests in the Sanctuary. There are a total of 8 Moon Shards, which correspond to 8 Moon Phases. Each Shard is found in its respective Invidia Chest and can additionally be purchased from the Archaeologist in the Sanctuary during its respective Moon Phase. Their only use is to craft the Temporal Astrolabe.
