Hell's Boon is a Pre-Hardmode sword crafted by activating an Oblivion Altar with Light's Bane. When used, it spawns ash spikes out of nearby tiles and platforms from your Cursor (similar to the Blood Thorn), this effect reaches the entirety of your screen, making it incredibly useful. Hits with the sword directly will inflict always inflict a stack of Hellfire (Corruption) for 4 seconds.
It has a Crimson counterpart, the Cauterizer, which is much slower, but provides heavier damage and decent range.
Its best modifier is Legendary.
