The Cauterizer is a Pre-Hardmode Sword obtained by activating an Oblivion Altar with a Blood Butcherer. It has a unique swing animation which allows it to swing in all directions, unlike typical broadswords. Hits with the sword directly will inflict always inflict a stack of Hellfire (Crimson) for 4 seconds.
It also fires a large, mid-ranged slash in the middle of its swinging animation, which has a 50% chance to inflict a stack of Hellfire (Crimson) for 3 seconds. The slash has infinite penetration, and gets a 20% damage penalty every time it hits an enemy; however, the Wall of Flesh, The Hungry, and Leeches do not activate this penalty.
It has a Corruption counterpart, Hell's Boon, which is much faster and provides full-screen range, but has weaker damage.
Its best modifier is Legendary.
